The Meadows Care Centre at Badby Park
Specialist nursing care for long term and progressive neurological conditions
Progressive neurological disorder is a general term for degenerative conditions or diseases that affect the nervous system. Some more common examples are Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases – but there are many more, and all are characterized by damage to brain cells, nerve cells, or the cells of spinal cord pathways. As a consequence, signals between the brain and the body are interrupted, resulting in symptoms such as:
problems with walking, balance and coordination pain and sensory disruption (for example, being unable to feel the difference between hot and cold) uncontrolled movement, seizures and partial paralysis; loss of control over bladder and bowel (at later stages of disease) problems with breathing and talking; heart problems
The exact treatment for a progressive neurological disorder will depend on its type and severity, but for many patients, there is much that can be done to reduce and relieve symptoms, and to improve quality of life.
The Meadows Care Centre at Badby Park offers an enriching and stimulating environment for people with progressive neurological disorders. Our dedicated multi-disciplinary team works with families and carers to develop an individual care pathway for each resident, helping them gain as much independence as possible through a tailored programme of indoor and outdoor therapies and activities. The bedrooms are spacious, all have ensuites and overlook the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. There is also access to a tranquil sensory garden.
The care consists of high staffing levels of nurses and carers, with input from occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Our activities team interacts with residents in leisure and recreation pastimes. There is a weekly regular visit from the GP and care plans are overseen by consultants in Medical Rehabilitation and Neuropsychiatry. Our goal is to help our residents attain the highest quality of life and level of independence possible.
Badby Park is easily accessible from most major towns in the Midlands and from London, thanks to excellent transport links. If you are a case worker, an NHS care manager or a private individual and want to discuss a client, family member or loved one, our clinical advisors would be more than happy to talk to you.
