National Design Award
Badby Park has won the Pinders Design Award, a national design award established in 1999, which recognises excellence in the design and construction of care homes across the country. Badby Park beat two other finalists in the category of Best Restoration & Extension at a special ceremony at Lords Cricket Ground on March 25th, 2010. Jan Flawn, MD of Badby Park said that the award served to underscore Badby Park’s commitment to excellence in specialist care.
Special Commendation for Badby Park
Badby Park won a special commendation at Healthinvestor Awards in May 2010, in the category of the Healthcare Property of the Year. The Award, which recognised excellence in the design of physical environment was judged by a panel made up prominent individuals within the healthcare sector, headed by Lord Darzi, the former health minister. Set within a 50 acre estate on the edge of the town of Daventry in Northants, a modern accommodation wing sits attached to a beautiful ½ acre walled garden and a restored country house. The result is the efficiency of a 21st century care environment combined with the charms of a historic building, which includes a large therapy room with tall ornate ceilings and French doors overlooking the rolling hills of south Northamptonshire.
Badby Park recognised for commitment to healthy food
In January 2010, Badby Park was awarded The Northants Heartbeat Award. The Heartbeat Awards are a national award given by local councils which recognise organisations with a continuing commitment to customers through providing healthier food choices in a healthier environment.
PJ Care recognised for commitment to training
PJ Care, Badby Park’s sister company, has been recognised for its commitment to training by the Independent Healthcare Awards. The company was founded in 2000 by Jan Flawn, herself a nurse by training. PJ Care’s values of commitment, compassion and care are a reflection of Jan’s own front-line experience as a nurse and NHS manager. PJ Care is one of three nominees selected for the award, which shall be presented at a special ceremony in September 2010 in London.
Stroke Conference at PJ Care
Badby Park’s sister company, PJ Care, co-hosted its first Stroke conference with Milton Keynes PCT on January 15th, 2010. The conference featured talks by neuro-specialists on prevention and diagnosis of strokes and rehabilitation of stroke patients.
Palliative Care
PJ Care recognised for excellence in Palliative Care. PJ Care, Badby Park’s sister company, was awarded the National Training Award for East of England in recognition of its End of Life Care in November 2009. The awards recognised the work undertaken by Lyn Meehan, research and development nurse, which underpinned PJ Care’s policies in caring for Palliative Care patients.
