The Lantern Care Centre
The Lantern Care Centre is a unique and purpose-designed critical and palliative care
environment with 17 ensuite bedrooms with facilities for family and friends and the use of an
easily accessible landscaped sensory walled garden.
The Lantern Care Centre supports individuals who require specialist nursing care to optimise their
quality of life.
The multi-skilled team of professionals work in partnership with residents, their families and
friends to ensure the delivery of the highest possible quality of care through the implementation
of individualised Care Pathways for those with:-

- Artificial Ventilation – invasive and non-invasive
- Tracheostomy care
- Gastrostomy / Jejunostomy feeding
- Complex Neurological disorders
- Acquired Brain Injuries – & profound Brain Injury
- Spinal Cord Injury
- Low Awareness/-persistent vegetative state
- Palliative care

The Consultant and Specialist Nurse-led Multi-disciplinary team includes Neuro-specialists in
Speech and Language, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Alternative therapies are also
available as part of the Care Pathway.
The care team undertake various comprehensive professional and risk assessments,
to ensure the health and well-being of the individual, which is paramount to the care team’s
person centred philosophy.
The outcomes of the assessments underpin the implementation of the individual’s
Consultant led holistic Care Pathway, which is regularly updated through reviews with the
residents and significant others to reflect the individual’s changing needs.
